Cade has gone and turned 13 on me. 13!
Wow.
(Half our kids are now teenagers! I feel old. Boo.)
13! Thirteen? 13!! So weird, right?
Cade has always been my “easy” child. He is always soooo good. SO good! I am not blind to his silly side….it can cause him to be a stinker at times….but he does it in a way that he still seems so innocent. Strange.
So here they are….13 things I adore about my little Cader Bug. (What 13 year old doesn’t like to be called something like that? I guess it’s time to stop……nah, I like it. That’s what we have always called him and I doubt that will change. )
1. Cade is hilarious! He is always making us laugh.
2. Cade can dance like nobody’s business. He has some awesome moves!
3. Cade is always thinking about how others feel….It is important to him to be kind.
4. Cade doesn’t like to say “I’m Sorry”. He will do anything to make it up to you and make you feel better…anything except say the actual words “I’m Sorry”. Even though he is.
5. Cade is a fabulous cook! He wants to be a chef and a dentist when he grows up.
6. Cade hates it when I sing. When he was a baby, he didn’t like me to sing to him…as he got older and I would rock him to sleep he would turn in my arms, put his finger to his lips say “ssshhhhh”. To this day when I sing out loud he will say….”Um, mom? When you sing you make me feel weird inside. Can you stop?” So I always sing to him because he HATES it. Every morning when I drop him off for school I sing him a little jingle and he slams the door behind him as he exits the car. It drives him CRAZY. So funny. By the way I am a GOOD singer! Just ask me!
7. Cade is really smart. He likes to learn new things and he is always googling something new online.
8. Cade is going to make a fabulous husband someday. He will take such good care of his family…I have no doubt! I know this because of the way he treats and takes care of our family.
9. Cade can’t hear. At all. He follows anything I say with “WHAT?” When he was a baby he had so many ear infections that he has major scarring on his eardrums. Eventually he got tubes, but the damage was done. We had his hearing checked and tests ran….the specialist told me that now he hears like he is under water all the time. Everything is muffled and he can’t hear certain tones at all. He took a year of speech therapy to learn to say some of his sounds correctly. He talks great now….he just can’t hear. I just know that anything I say to Cade, unless he is looking right at me, I will have to say at least twice.
10. Cade is very spiritual. He always says his prayers, tries to do what is right, and is always reminding me when it is time for FHE. (He usually makes the treat) His family is very important to him.
11. Cade is a wonderful brother. Kyler is and has always been his very best friend. They have a close bond and have been through a lot together. He is Cooper’s favorite as well. They like to make hideouts out of Cade’s bed and have sleepovers in it. He plays so cute with the little boys…they really look up to him
12. Cade makes everything fun. He always has a smile and is up for a good time.
13. Cade is a clean FREAK. I love it. He has to have his room, dresser, clothes, etc just right. It is pretty hard when you share a room with someone that is completely opposite, but Cade is a good sport about it. (Better than I would be)
Gosh I could go on and on about this kid.
I really am lucky to be his mom. He has taught me so much in our 13 years together. He has so much to offer the world and I am so excited to continue watching him learn and grow.
Can’t wait to see what life has in store for him!

Hi Mindy, Of course I remember you from the other day at the retreat. You are so sweet for saying thank you. I really have so much respect for you and what you are going through. Your family is adorable. So many teen-agers. Hope things are going well. Thank you for saying hi.
