t-ball

Cooper really wanted to play tball this year, so even though he was a little too young for the team, I signed him up thinking he would catch on pretty good. He was really excited and ready to learn. Mike spent an afternoon teaching him how to play, so even though the teams one and only practice before the first game got rained out, we thought we had covered all the bases and that he knew what he was doing. haha

They were outfield first and he was all over it tackling the ball and just throwing it around. He was having a ball. (I love how he always waves at me and yells "I love you mom!!")

Then it was batter up........

He hit the ball and knew he had to run....so off he went to third base.

The other teams coach hustled him back to first base.....

and our base coach got him straight on where he should be.

It went down hill from there. Cooper was confused as to why everyone was trying to get him "out"....and thought they were being mean to him. So he coped a serious attitude with the opposing team.

The coach told them to be nice and steared him towards second. Still had an attitude.

Off he went to third. I was worried about what was coming next...but the third baseman was so cute...he greeted him with a smile and bent down to talk to him.

Cooper still had an attitude, but he didn't attack...thank goodness.

He finally crossed home plate....and we pulled him aside for a serious talking to about being nice and being a good sport. He was so confused that we were telling HIM to be nice when the other kids were trying to get him out of the game. He thought they needed the talking to. Ahh...Perspective right? He was seeing it through his little 4 year old mind....and we had a totally different view of the situation. We had never thought to explain the concept of the game, so he would know they weren't trying to be mean to him....it was just how you played the game. Whoops.

Giving the other team a little Rah-Rah-Rah...

and off to get a treat!

and now that he has the concept down....

I think he is definitely a fan!
